It has been nearly 8 months since my Miss Greater New York crowning and time really does fly! I had no idea that I would be writing my farewell before the new year, but it is definitely for a good reason. On November 10th, I was crowned Miss Staten Island 2014, making history as the first woman to ever achieve the title twice in the pageant's 48-year run. I couldn't be more honored and grateful!
The past 8 months as Miss Greater New York have shown me exactly what I am capable of. It was not the easiest year for my family, personally, plus the mix of graduating from college and accepting a full-time job position. However, I can say with confidence that I gave everything I had to promoting my platform, serving my community, and preparing for Miss New York.
It was quite an eventful few months. I made over 50 appearances and loved every single one. I developed my platform more fully and expanded it to make an even greater difference. I was even fortunate enough to compete alongside the current Miss America, Nina Davuluri, room with her at Miss NY, and see her crowned in person in Atlantic City!
Thank you to everyone who supported me and gave their time to help me as Miss Greater New York 2013. I am looking forward to my next venture as Miss Staten Island 2014. I will return to the Miss New York stage in May, prepared and ready to be the best me I can be. No matter the outcome, though, I will walk away from the experience with knowledge, friends, and the motivation to continue working for my platform - because that is what it's all about!
